This is a 1996 Alderney Five Pound (£5) coin, issued to commemorate the 70th Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Coin Details Issuer: Alderney (Channel Island). Year: 1996. Denomination: Five Pounds (£5). Reverse Design: The reverse features the floral emblems of the four nations of the United Kingdom—a rose (England), thistle (Scotland), daffodil (Wales), and shamrock (Northern Ireland)—tied together with a ribbon above a crown. Inscriptions around the design read "TO CELEBRATE THE 70TH YEAR OF HER MAJESTY" and "1996 £5". Obverse Design: The other side of the coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Composition: Depending on the specific version, it can be made of copper-nickel, silver proof, or gold proof (the one in the image appears to be a silver or brilliant uncirculated finish). Comes in a plastic capsule with paper coa, but no box. Most of the visable scratches in the photos are on the capsule, only very light markings on the rear ( see photos).
